Turkish Airlines has started flying from Sabiha Gokcen Airport

Turkish Airlines (THY) has started flying from Sabiha Gokcen Airport (located on the Asian side of Istanbul) to Sarajevo.
Today the first THY aircraft landed at Sarajevo International Airport after taking off from Sabiha Gokcen Airport. It was marked symbolically by cutting a cake.
The THY Director in BiH, Ahmet Salih Kansu, explained that some 45% of almost 15 million population of Istanbul live on the Asian side.
“We introduced three flights a week from Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Sarajevo. It will enable our passengers who come from Kuwait, Ukraine and other destinations to have a direct flight from Sabihe Gokcen Airport to/from Sarajevo. So far we have had 18 operations a week, and now that figure increased to 21“, said Kansu.
He added that two of these flights from Sarajevo to Istanbul will be taken on working days, i.e. on Wednesday and Friday at 12:40 sati, and the third one on Sunday at 17:35.
Kansu explained that such a schedule has been chosen to meet expectations of tourists who prefer to take earlier flights on working days and late afternoon flight on Sunday in order to use the weekend as good as possible.
“THY will continue to promote BiH, both in Turkey and in the rest of the world. BiH has become a new and alternative tourist resort in the world“, said Kansu.
